SC SĀGA invites to summer outdoor movie evenings

From 25 July to 22 August, each Thursday evening, you will be able to watch outdoor movies on the SC SĀGA terrace. Movies will start on the large screen next to the Water Gate at 19:00.

Big and small movie-lovers will have the opportunity to watch six Latvian and foreign movies beloved by the audience, both ones produced during the last decade and movie classics.

Outdoor movies grant a special mood to summer evenings – it is being together and celebrating life.

Come and enjoy with your family, friends or beloved one. Bring excellent mood and a warm rug to sit on, and we will take care of a wonderful atmosphere and good movies. It will be possible to purchase the favourite movies snacks and drinks in the shopping centre.

Outdoor movie evening program:

25 July: animated film “Jēkabs, Mimī un runājošie suņi” (Jacob, Mimmi  and the Talking Dogs) (2019)

The Thursdays’ movie marathon will begin with the animated film for the whole family Jacob, Mimmi and the Talking Dogs. It is based upon the children’s book “Maskačkas stāsts” (A Story of Maskachka) by Luīze Pastore and has earned recognition in Latvia and internationally. Jacob, Mimmi and the Talking Dogs is a story of summer advantages of children and a flock of taking dogs in the Riga suburb Maskachka. A movie for both small and big ones, it tells about believing in own power and ability of everyone to generate positive change in own city and the world.

1 August: motion picture “Elpojiet dziļi” (Breathe Deeply ) or “Četri balti krekli” (Four White Shirts) (1967)

The audience saw the movie with two names only 19 years after its production, it has been included in the Latvia's Cultural Canon and featured at the Cannes Film Festival. A film critic Dita Rietuma has called it the all-time best movie in the history of Latvian cinema. Four White Shirts is about hunger for freedom, rebel youth and the voice of conscience. Songs by Imants Kalniņš played in the movie have become as popular as the movie itself and are being sung by several generations already.

8 August: The Hundred-Foot Journey, 2014, USA

A gastronomic tale that will address gourmands. And not only them. A story about the family that leaves India, find themselves in a small village in the Franch Alps, open an Indian restaurant and become a competitor for the owner of the local restaurant. The Hundred-Foot Journey is about enjoying food and the taste of life, a real dedication and talent. 

15 August: motion picture “Kapteiņa Enriko pulkstenis” (A Watch of Captain Enriko) (1967)

An adventure movie and comedy about the life at school, the relations and devilry of children. Students are looking for the owner of a golden watch they have found; they are defrauded, trying to regain the watch and get into an adventure with running, chasing, cheating and changing dress.

22 August: motion picture “Emīla nedarbi” (Emil's Mischiefs) (1985)

A legendary family movie that has earned the "Lielais Kristaps" (The Big Christopher) prize and love of audience of all generations. The movie is made based on the work by Astrid Lindgren about the adventures of the six-year-old Emil. Emil's Mischiefs is a cordial, tender-hearted and buoyant film; the energy and fantasy of the naughty Emil create a series of comic, unexpected and joyful events. This film has provided a well-known Emil’s statement: “When I have no money then I can’t drink. When I have money then I am not allowed to drink. So, when should I drink?"
