Enefit EV charging stations opened near SC SĀGA

Within the implementation of the Shopping Centre Sāga sustainability plan and responding to the increasing visitors’ interest about the possibilities to charge EVs, SC Sāga, in cooperation with the energy company Enefit, has opened three Enefit EV charging stations in the shopping centre parking where it is possible to simultaneously charge 6 vehicles. Total investment of both parties is north of EUR 50 thousand.

Three Enefit EV charging stations have been opened from 31 October near the Shopping Centre SĀGA at Biķeru iela 4, Ulbroka, where it is possible to simultaneously charge 6 vehicles. Thay are publicly available to every EV owner.

Two charging devices provide for charging with the maximum power of 47 kW, and one with 22 kW. The quickest will charge for 100 km within 20 minutes. It will be possible to pay by using the Enefit Volt app. During the opening week, from 1 November to 8 November, it is possible to charge with a 50% discount by paying only EUR 0.16 for 1 kWh.

Jolanta Opaleva, Director of SC SĀGA: “Four years ago already, when opening our doors to visitors, operations of SC SĀGA were based on green thinking and environmentally friendly approach. Energy efficient solutions that have been used in the construction and maintenance of the building are not the only thing; we are promoting healthy lifestyle every day and urging our visitors opting for environmentally friendly habits. SC SĀGA is convenient and accessible to EV owners. While the vehicle is charged at the charging stations, it is possible to enjoy inspiring shopping experience in our shops, to dine at the extensive food court, to have some rest or practice sports.

Daniels Treņins, Head of the energy company Enefit E-mobility Solutions Department: “The average time spent by people for shopping at the supermarket is approximately 40 minutes — this is completely enough to charge an EV to the daily necessary level. Therefore, the technical solution of charging installed in Sāga corresponds to the habits of the shopping centre visitors and conveniently supplements the shopping experience of every EV owner, and saves time, which would otherwise be required for EV charging.”

The stations operate on 100% renewable electricity. In one-year period, this Enefit charging infrastructure will help saving more than 25 tons of CO2 emissions (calculation based on ACEA data). Total investment by both parties exceed EUR 50 thousand
